Zaba: “We hope this is the beginning of something”

Pablo Zabaleta is hoping the Hammers are on the cusp of something great and is looking forward to Chelsea.

The right back produced a solid as usual performance at Everton and must be favourite to keep his position over Ryan Fredericks.

He’s a realist but seriously hopeful for Sunday declaring: “Chelsea have a lot of quality but if we play with the same intensity and concentration as we did against Everton, then who knows?

Anything can happen, especially at home, with the fans behind the team,”

“Chelsea have been one of the great teams so far this season but you always need to be positive and think you can win games.”

It will need the same sort of intensity as we saw on Sunday which Zaba reckons was the most important aspect of the victory.

He agreed that was the most pleasing aspect of the game and added: “Everyone worked hard for 95 minutes and that is what you need. After the Wolves game, everyone was so disappointed. The whole performance was not good enough.”

Victory yesterday dispelled any doubts surrounding Pellegrini’s future and Zabaleta added: “It was crucial to get three points to lift the confidence of the lads, the manager, everyone.

“It has been a tough few months for the manager. Against Everton, we needed to react. We did and we proved to ourselves we have a chance to win games if we play this way.

“We have quality in the team and we hope this is the beginning of something. Victory lifts the spirit.”
