Zouma doubts emerge

By Dave Langton

David Moyes has been concerned with Kurt Zouma’s performances in recent weeks and looks ready to hold talks with the defender this summer.

The France international is at the centre of a court case right now over his alleged abuse of two pet cats, who have both been taken into the RSPCA’s care.

It has been revealed since the start of the case that Zouma has received racist abuse and death threats after his behaviour and Moyes believes, understandably, that such developments have taken a toll on the ex-Chelsea star.

As a result, we have been told that Moyes does not think the defender has been performing to the sa,e level as when he arrived, with perhaps his metal ordeal affecting his perfoomances.

Moyes intends to speak with Zouma about his displays this summer, and will try to map out a plan for the future for the Frenchman.

At this point, there is no suggestion that Moyes wants to sell Zouma but there is a concern that his performances will need to improve.

The Irons are pursuing a deal for Rennes’ Nayef Aguerd and he may well come into the club as a first-choice defensive option.

  1. Zouma moves to the right side as he is a right sided player and aguerd on left . Still need that bassey at left back though

  2. Another being thrown under the bus!

  3. This doesn’t make sense to me. Been one of our best defenders this season and has had some great games since cat gate. Maybe the fact we rushed him back from his injury hasn’t helped and he’s not fully fit?! Ridic story if true. He’s been brilliant.

  4. Totally agree Ryan he has been outstanding in every game I’ve seen in spite of booing etc. I hope this is just a story, ie fiction. He is there as right side c/b with Dawson available. We need a left c/b and have done for months – hello recruitment team???
