Hammers look at former Watford boss

|

Flores-639331West Ham is considering an approach for Espanyol Coach Quique Sanchez Flores, according to reports in the Spanish Diario Sport today. The 52-year-old previously managed Watford during the 2015-16 season leading them to the FA Cup semi-finals and a mid-table league position.

Flores signed a three-year contract with Espanyol last summer but the report states he and Espanyol may agree to part ways next summer due to a difficult working relationship. Flores is the latest name to be thrown into the ring as rumours that the board will replace Slaven Bilic next summer gather pace.

Carlo Ancelotti, Thomas Tuchel, Eddie Howe, Rafa Benitez, Roberto Mancini, Sean Dyche and Slavisa Jokanovic are just some of the names linked in recent weeks.

Rafa Benitez and Roberto Mancini remain joint favourites as the next permanent manager of West Ham with bookmaker Paddy Power with Slavisa Jokanovic on the third favourite.  Slaven Bilic has the full support of the board until the end of the season at which point his contract expires.

Honestly I’m up for manager because I can just about manage. Keep Slav. Or get someone in who hets us teuly to the next level. Surely we can attract better than that.

Might be quicker and easier to report on who we aren’t in for Shaun? This one is a bit like Dyche – Think we should be aiming a little higher? I’d still like us to have a go for Brendan Rogers as soon as they get knocked out of the Europa!

We should definitely be aiming higher Jimbo and long term too. Dyche is a no for me. Eddie Howe would be an interesting project (would certainly bring on the youngsters) but if we ever get back to European games, how will he fair then?
Mancini & Benitez tick the boxes for that experience in Europe and having already managed top teams, i think could take us to the next level. Not sure about Tuchel & Brenda. I would like to see Inzaghi given the reins though. Builds his team on a strong defence with plenty of attacking flair mixed in.

Flores did a good job at Watford for 2/3’s pf a season, the team fell away, as Alredo Di Stefano’s son he certainlly has the genetics, but whether long term who knows, I can’t see hom being worse than Slav but unsure of how much better he may be. Seems from the outside like for like.

When Slav was appointed we were delighted as he was one of our own, but truthfully he wasn’t. Fu**ed off the minute a bigger club came knocking. His national record with Croatia was very good but his club management not so. Possibly we have seen the best of him and there isn’t anything left in the tank. I’d still try for Rogers. Plays good football, gets the max out of his players and even though he is a Celtic fan, he himself admits he wants another crack at the PL. they’ll be out of the Europa soon enough, at which point we should try our hand.
