Hammers target to be tempted with big new deal

|

CarvalhoReports are coming out of Portugal tonight that Sporting Lisbon are trying to beat off fresh West Ham advances on William Carvalho by offering the defensive midfielder a new deal.

The want him to agree to a one year extension which would keep him at the club until 2021 whilst pushing the release clause in his contract to £54 million from £40 million.

He would receive a sizeable pay increase into the bargain with Sporting’s plan clearly to make up the reported shortfall on the current financial dealings should they sell him.

It’s a dilemma for Carvalho who wants to move to the London Stadium but could miss out on a hefty pay rise should his club again refuse to do business with the Irons.

Reports in the Portuguese capital claim Sporting chiefs have approached Carvalho and his advisers with the offer of a new deal.

Despite the sour relationship between the Hammers and Sporting there is every chance we will go back in for a player who has attracted the attention of Manchester City, Arsenal, Liverpool and West Brom in the past.

Italian champions Juventus are also tempted by Carvalho, who has won 40 Portugal caps.

No chance what a waste of time ..I’m done with getting upbeat about decent players.. 2 seasons of let downs in the transfer windows have left me with no confidence at all! ..imo

To be honest I have not seen him play too much, question is he a lot better than Obs, Kayoute?

IMO ric yes , seen him play quite a bit and he’s as good defencively as going forward , pace ,strength , passing , got it all really , captain of Lisbon and 40 caps and still young !
Defo plus if we get him ?

Why would they even consider selling to us, what with Sully taking legal action against them😚😚?

Agree with others who say this guy is better than what we’ve got currently. Protects a back four really well, can move with the ball at his feet and can play a forward pass, so yes he would be a step up on Koyuate and even Obiang. But they aren’t going to sell him on the cheap, or accept a fiver a week over 10 years from Mr Dildo, so this is another one we’ve successfully blown I fear.

Let’s not waste more time with this nonsense. Get Dendoncker, even if he costs 40 million Euros. That would be a major upgrade…
