Westfield raise concerns over West Ham Christmas fixture

|

WestfieldWestfield shopping centre has raised serious concerns over West Ham’s game with Newcastle on Saturday 23rd December which they say will be one of the busiest shopping days of their year.

Adrian Hodgson and Rashdul from Westfield Zaman told the London Stadium Safety Advisory Group in September of their concerns.

The minutes for the 6th September meeting say “Westfield raised their concerns over the forthcoming game scheduled on 23 December as this is a very busy day for WSC, and requested to be involved in the partners planning meetings.”

Westfield also advised the group that development plans for Jamie’s Passage which could affect match day pedestrian flow are currently being designed and once finalised will be shared.

Westfield notified the safety group that the planning application for the permanent gates at Chestnut Plaza had been submitted. West Ham is thought to have an unwritten agreement with the Shopping centre not to play home games on Boxing day which is the busiest day of the year for Westfield.

The minutes from the meeting can be found at https://www.newham.gov.uk/Documents/Business/SSAGMinutes6Sep2017.pdf

This whole Westfield thing stinks. Its going un-noticed, but we have only played one match at the normal Saturday 3pm kick off time at home and up until the Newcastle home game on the 23rd December, yes 4 months into the season will we get our second Saturday 3pm kick off and now Westfield are moaning about that.
Why don’t we just let them decide when and if we play our home games, I mean its not as if our opinion matters now does it.
Friday night night games, Saturday morning or evening games and the odd Sunday afternoon game but no Sat 3pm games.
The owners are muppets and we are sinking faster than the Titanic and just like the great old ship, we aint never coming back up.
I suggest Sean you do one of your article regarding this instead of giving us useless stats and facts that no one wants to read.
