Moyes to look at possible new deal for defender

|

David Moyes has suggested that there is still a decision to be made over Fabian Balbuena this summer.

It has been widely expected that the Paraguayan will move on at the end of a deal which has seen him in and out of the team over various periods.

He looked to be right back into contention for a long term place earlier this season but with Angelo Ogbonna’s injury intervening he found himself out of favour with Issa Diop retuning to the back four.

Since then has been regular comment that he could well be on the move for the last stage of his career.

However, talking to reporters the manager said: “We’re well aware of it. Fabian Balbuena had a brilliant start to the season for us.

Then Issa Diop got his chance and so too did Craig Dawson so Balbuena has found himself pushed out a little bit.

We’ll have a look at it [his contract situation] in the summer. That’s the plan.

Hope we can extend him, I think as a defender he is a top class defender that reads the game well, if we keep him it’s one less puzzle to solve at the end of the season.
