Everton fans hopes of a West Ham windfall are dashed

|

Everton fans hoping for a massive windfall through the sale of Nikola Vlasic are lightly to be very disappointed.

The Premier League rivals did insert a 15% sell on clause into the contract when they sold the attacking midfielder CSKA Moscow in the summer of 2019.

The sale price at that time by the Merseyside based Premier League club was said to be £20.7m and if the reported 30 million Euros (£25.6m) buy price for West Ham if correct that is just a modest profit of £4.9m.

Sell on clauses are almost always based on profit and not on the final transfer fee so 15% of £4.9m is just £735,000!

As this is a five year contract it is likely that West Ham will be paying in five equal instalments of £5.2m to Russia.

This might mean Everton getting a small pay-out of £147,000 per year from the Russian club.

Don’t spend it all at once lads!
