Report: Fans clash before Europa Cup game

|

Reports have emerged from Croatia this morning of fights breaking out between fans ahead of the game against Dinamo Zagreb this evening.

It claims those involved have been fighting between themselves and opposition fans.

A report from telegram.hr  per www.kumb,com claims  four British subjects – aged 20, 23, 23 and 25 – had been arrested for attacking two local citizens aged 21 and 26 with bottles and beer jugs at around 9.25pm local time on Wednesday evening, outside a cafe on Zagreb’s Tkalciceva Street.

  • It adds that the elder of the two Croatian citizens was seriously injured and taken to the Sestre milosrdnice hospital for treatment, while his assailants were arrested under suspicion of “participating in a fight”.

In a second report another outbreak of violence says police were forced to break up a fight between two British men – aged 31 and 35 – outside a local hostelry.

The younger of the two individuals was detained in the Police’s “Detention and Preparation Unit” until he was considered sober enough to leave.

And in another, separate incident two young Dinamo fans were arrested for being in possession of “objects suitable for attack”. They were also taken to a local Police station for questioning.

Further, unsubstantiated reports suggest a pub full of West Ham fans was attacked by Zagreb supporters later in the evening.
