Give Mikey some help Moysie

|

One of the surprises of the second half against Burnley was David Moyes’ decision to stay with one up front!

In a game which was seriously there for the taking the out of form Mikey Antonio might well have benefitted by the arrival of Jarrod Bowen in closer proximity.

That’s what happened against Chelsea and we saw the first flashes of form in some time from the No 9 and it was surely worth a try.

Our most potent threat was Declan Rice’s long range and sometimes impossible looking runs but Moyes – as we mentioned in an earlier piece – really needs to get the best from Miley and that may mean giving him a partner.

There were games earlier in the season when he linked very well with Benrahma but both have lost form since and we need a new approach.

Bowen may well be his answer although the alternative – as mentioned earlier – may well to hand Bowen the Antonio role and bring the 31 year old on hopefully as a killer sub.

The one good thing about the game was that our second string central defence kept a clean sheet but it remained desperate up front.

And will remain desperate till we get some strikers. This has gone on long enough and it is as they chicken coming home to roost time.
