Optimistic Moyes changes tune on winter window

|

David Moyes has confirmed that he is hoping to add two more players to his squad before the transfer deadline.

The Hammers boss has yet to add a new player to his squad in this window and has previously straight batted questions about potential new additions, insisting that he simply doesn’t know if transfers will be done.

But he has now confirmed that the club are hoping to get two new players through the door prior to the end of the window.

We have consistently reported that the Irons boss wants to sign a new central defender and a striker, and it remains to be seen if additions will come in those positions.

But Moyes has clearly changed his tune, potentially suggesting that the Hammers are suddenly confident of deals being done.

Speaking to reporters prior to this weekend’s game against Manchester United, Moyes said, as per Football.London: “Yeah. 100% the board have been really good they have supported me greatly and said ‘go and get what you need if you can David. ‘ Like everything else things are expensive in this window at the moment also there’s not a great pool [of players] the positions we are looking for we have found difficult to identify and maybe get ones who we think can come in and make a difference immediately.

“The last couple of January windows we’ve been able to do that. This window has felt a wee bit more difficult. But if things go right and we get a good run of things I am still hopeful that we will add a couple of players before the window closes.”

I really hope the two signings will be quality who will move us to another level. I see a lot of links to Nat Phillips but I honestly hope we are looking at players with real quality. We do not need another right footed CB as we already have Zouma and Dawson so signign Phillips who is also right footed makes absolutely no sense. Fingers crossed the signings will be quality and excite us the fans but even more important the players.

Holding out for Lingard is a waste of time which is what he seems to be doing, pay the money and get the players he wants in, Hlozek we supposedly have a deal in place for so get him in, he is a winger that can play centre forward like Bowen which seems to be Moyes preferred choice, he can also play left or right wing and must surely be better than Masuaku, or Yarmolenko so should offer better competition for Vlasic/Benrahma who imho could be better in the number 10 slot anyway.

Not sure who we are going for defensively but left back and left cb both need filling so someone that can cover both positions is preferred.
