West Ham boss David Moyes has all but hoisted the white flag in his bid to land Jesse Lingard.
We reported a couple of weeks back that hopes of signing the out of contract midfielder were looking bleak and we understand now that the manager is being forced to look in other directions as his hopes fade in a big way.
Sadly his decision to bring in £27 million Nikola Vlasic after failing to get his favoured player hasn’t worked out at all.
He has since continued in his bid to get the former England and Manchester United star but thus far has not received a hint of encouragement from the player or his agent that the London Stadium will be his next destination.
The only surprise is that as is usually the case these days, Newcastle haven’t been linked with a fresh bid but his chances of landing up with us seem as grim as they have been at any stage.
One source explained: “The manager loves the guy but every sign is he will be disappointed again.”
Why oh why, hasn’t Moyes moved on from Lingard.
About time. Appreciated the goals he gave us on loan but he has made it perfectly clear it was a trade off, he gave us goals we game him a stage to perform on. Other than that he has absolutely zero intention of playing for us, he doesn’t love west ham otherwise he’d have pushed utd for a transfer in January. We want committed players so thanks for the goals but no thanks.
Move on Mr Moyes you have plenty to work on and this bloke ain’t interested
Shame, really. He is one player who could’ve made sure we win something in 22/23- in particular ECL and a free pass to Europa League the following season.
Never has so much time been wasted on a player that has little interest in us!

We should move on really. Bring in a young hungry upwardly mobile player instead. Not convinced it’s over as far as Lingard is concerned though. Think he’s a good enough player for his agent to wait until the end of the window to consider all of his options. I’m sure there will be plenty of clubs interested in him. Newly minted clubs like Aston Villa or Newcastle who are aspiring to do what West Ham have done the last two seasons are probably keeping a close eye on Lingard as they seem to be trying to hijack all of our other targets. Maybe the rich arabs just hire a team of spies to see who David Moyes is after and then try and hijack the deal by offering more money.
