Irons target wanted by Southampton

|

Southampton are reported to be exploring a deal to sign Michael Keane from Everton.

The Athletic reports that Nathan Jones’ side are eyeing a potential deal for the centre-back, as they look to bring in reinforcements in the relegation battle.

Southampton are currently rock-bottom of the Premier League and have not won any of their last seven league games.

The report claims Saints want to do a deal that would see them take Keane on loan until the end of the season, although Everton would rather sell.

The Toffees are in trouble themselves and currently sit 18th; they are level on points with the Irons but are in the bottom three due to goal difference.

West Ham were linked with a potential move to sign Keane in the summer and are again said to hold an interest prior to the January window.

Keane has played 22 minutes of Premier League football under manager Frank Lampard this season.
