Gold lays out Irons summer transfer needs

David Gold believes a striker is the top priority for a West Ham team short on goals.

The West Ham co-chairman says  the club wants to bring in three or four top signings this summer and a striker will be high on the wanted list list.

Gold came out strongly defending the manager in a recent interview telling fans that he had achieved everything asked of him.

But there will be a more coordinated approach between the board and manager -whoever that may be – on who arrives at the club this season.

Speaking to ClaretandHugh Gold said: “I think it’s fair to say we need another striker – a player who can put pressure on Andy Carroll or play off him.

“We also need to look at the left back position and a couple of others perhaps, but we will make the money available to do what’s necessary.”

In the past the board has  received Sam Allardyce’s list of required players and gone out and tried to make them happen.

But there will be a more cooperative effort this summer between the management staff and the board after some high profile failures like Alou Diarra and Modibo Maiga.
