A MESSAGE TO SUPPORTERS FROM THE VICE-CHAIRMANDear Supporter,West Ham United’s opening games at London Stadium have been hugely successful in terms of record crowds, supporters’ feedback on the Stadium, the atmosphere and the matchday experience.
However, the Club has also been alerted by a number of supporters to incidents where individual fans or small groups are standing up throughout, spoiling the views for other fans sitting behind them, and refusing to sit down even when asked by their fellow supporters to do so. It is enormously disappointing that a large number of children, elderly supporters and, in particular, those with disabilities had their enjoyment of these opening games affected by the decision of individuals in the rows in front of them to stand throughout the games. As a family Club, with in excess of 10,000 Under-16 Season Ticket Holders at our new home, we believe it is unacceptable that the experience of our youngest and oldest fans should be affected in this way. We would therefore appeal to all fans to show due respect and consideration to those around and behind them, especially for children, the elderly and those with disabilities, and remain seated during future matches at London Stadium. Supporters are reminded that the regulations which govern all Premier League clubs state: “Persistent standing in seated areas whilst play is in progress is strictly forbidden, and may result in ejection from the ground.” Therefore, those who stand persistently are at risk of having their Season Tickets permanently revoked. We are obviously reluctant to take any such action against loyal fans, and we hope that we will not be put in that position. Supporters should note that Stadium stewards have been strongly briefed on the matter and are acting on the Club’s authority. With sold-out crowds attending West Ham fixtures this season, we want them all to enjoy every second of the action in comfort and safety, especially that new generation of Hammers fans able to attend our matches for the first time. We absolutely appreciate that this is a momentous time for the Club and supporters, naturally, are excited. This is a learning curve for us all but we must start the way we mean to go on. So we urge all our supporters to play their part, stay seated so that everyone can see and enjoy the game, and join together in creating a new era in our Club’s great history. |

These lads have traditionly stood. Surely the club knew this. why o why didn’t we use our loaf and put them all in one section where they could stand and not interfere with anyone else. However until the problem is solved have a bit of respect for your fellow fans. Some of whom are incapable of standing. some are unable to see even when standing,e.g. our kids. great respect to the lads that have always stood but i thnk they should also respect those that either can’t or don’t want to. We’ve all paid the same amount for our entertainment. Iam 67 and have been there since i was about 7/8 and now unfortunately can’t stand for long periods of time. Does that make me a wrong ‘un. I’ve done my bit,away to bin dippers manure smoggies (proper battle) and now i want to enjoy my footie. please don’t spoil it or i will have to dig the cherry reds out. Play the game lads. I had a geezer stood at Upton Park in front of me.I asked him nicely to park his ar*e but he didn’t .So I thought f*c k you,got my lighter out,turned it to max strength & stuck it under his ar*e.Ok it nearly caused a war but it was worth seeing him jump 10ft in the air.Its the way to go,take a lighter with you & stick it under their ars*s full blast if they won’t sit down.The club should send every fan out a free lighter 🙂

one solution standing area I think I am going to prefer the away games
Times have changed in a Big Way from The Boleyn Ground, we are now in a 60,000 seating stadium as per The Premiership Ruling no standing. Yes one section of the ground should have been considered all standing, but tickets have now been sold as a seating stadium.
It was shameful Sunday the way some people older and families with young children were verbally attacked, that is not acceptable, it seems from one of our teams websites the feeling from those wanting standing is they should have all the lower sections and those wanting to sit the upper sections only?
What world are these people living in, the letter from Karen Brady and Mr Gold entering into a debate on twitter last night means The Premier League all fully aware now, what do they do, sit back and watch the ruling being completely ignored?
Some serious discussion needs to be held we are West Ham UNITED lets not start off our life in an amazing stadium be scarred by controversy off the pitch by fans.
