The 18-year-old has arrived in Germany yesterday to finalise a loan that will see him spend the entirety of next season in the Bundesliga.

Colossal Sports Management tweeted a photo saying: “Congratulations to Reece Oxford and Borussia Monchengladbach”

After a disappointing loan spell at Reading last season the Irons are keen for the youngster to put a hard edge on his game and the Bundesliga is an ideal league in which to do so.

The defender is seen as a future West Ham captain with the Irons desperately keen for him to gain regular first team football but there is no chance of him agreeing to any permanent deals.

Chelsea centre-half Andreas Christensen has spent the last two seasons on loan at Monchengladbach and the German club believes Oxford can make a similar impression in the Bundesliga next season.

Borussia finished in ninth place in the league of 18 last season.

Does this mean everytime a defender makes a mistake or gets injured next season we will get the “we should never have sent Oxford out on loan” line. it could be a long season 😂

      Probably .

It’s already started Rads lmao. He couldn’t get a match at Reading in the Chumps liga- do we really think he will start for Munchen in the Bungligsa? I just can’t see it myself. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not going to wet myself all day over this subject, I accept Slaven knows best having watched him for about 50 hours more than my 120 mins, but I just can’t see this move working out. Anyhow I reckon young Rice is the main man now.

Perhaps all the platitudes thrown Oxfords way were a tad premature.Who knows he might not kick on to be the player many expected.I hope im wrong but it has happened many times before that a kid hasnt lived up to early expectations.

There is too much hype building up around Oxford. One performance against Arsenil and the die was cast for fans.He is a superstar. But no because in games after especially Leicester he was shown to be a kid amongst men.

Lets give the boy time to develop and go to get game time to aid his progression. He is just eighteen years of age and the cries for his first team inclusion by fans is based on what???
One game against Arsenil because its the only one he shined in.

Will he get regular game time with a club at a similar level to us ?

Nordveit also on his way back to Germany, Hoffenheim have signed him for 1.5 million seems pretty cheap to me.
