West Ham Chairman David Sullivan has talked about last summer’s transfer signings insisting two of them will still come good for the club while voicing his disappointment about the two strikers he took on loan last season.
David Sullivan told Jim White and Tony Cottee on Talk Sport radio: “I like a couple of players we signed last year, I think they will come good for the club, Arthur Masuaku will come good, I think Edimilson Fernandes will come good. They are both players which cost around £5m each. They will turn out to be very good buys for the club but the strikers, we signed two strikers on paper. They were strikers on loan with options to buy as had a had a doubt about them. It is beyond our belief not how badly they both were. Calleri worked his socks off but couldn’t score and Zaza looked like he was totally disinterested”

Seems to be doing ok in Spain . Our coaching methods and style of play did’nt suit .
Hard to blame the payer when our research was inadequate . You don’t get to play in La Liga if you are useless . West Ham made a mistake , don’t blame the man . That’s like stabbing in the back . It’s a mentality & culture thing . You have done well David this window don’t spoil it by having digs at players that were your mistake in the first place . Most unbecoming .
DS said he was disinterested and I think that was right, he never wanted to go on loan but his parent club forced him to
It certainly seemed to me that his heart wasn’t in it. Training varies from club to club, missing opportunities during a game does not.
Where did you find this Kevin from. The comedy club?!?!?
+1
Might be wrong i read so many different articles but didnt Zaza himself say he came over here with the wrong attitude and didnt give it his best shot with us.You can hardly argue with what comes out of the horses mouth. If he admits he didnt give it his all with us then its case closed.
Yes, he did. Pretty sure he said he took responsibility for under-performing too.
I like our chairmen because they talk like fans. Some West Ham fans knock them for that while failing to see that they are doing the exact same thing ie talking about their club. They did the right thing last season by loaning the players. They didn’t work out and they are history. The famous Zaza penalty miss summed up the player.
I’m no football manager but I’d build my West Ham team around Edimilson Fernandes.
Last summer was bad but we seem to learn from our mistakes this year I think now we can gamble a little after the recent signings we made to make the starting 11 stronger
