Hammers reveal Rice contract offer

West Ham have this morning claimed they have offered Declan Rice a basic wage of nearly double the £8,000 per week  which is being reported in the mainstream media.

ClaretandHugh has been told the 19-year-old defender has three years – with options – left on his current deal and the club say he has been offered a £15k per week basic with appearance clauses that could take him to £30k a week.

The youngster made 35 appearances last season and forced his way into the Republic of Ireland team where he has so far made three appearances and been tipped a future captain.

West Ham take the view that to push his basic to £30,000 from £3,000 a week would ‘spoil’ the defender and are currently identifying new central defensive targets anyway.

His agents meanwhile are continuing to push for a flat £20k a week basic which would be £10k above the figure he was expected to be offered as a basic wage.

With competition coming from new arrivals next season, the club presumably takes the view that £15k with incentive clauses are realistic terms. That offer is on the table and although there is some ‘wriggle room’ it’s not going to double to £30k a week.

How much are the other players on in our defence ?
    A lot more
How much are we paying Fredricks ?
    .More
He played more games and better then players a lot older
If we lose him how much to replace him ?
He is worth 50 K now and we keep him happy 5 years time he will be worth 100 mil as the best defender in the Premier
We need to stop being cheap or give up wanting to be a top team
    Go big or get out

That’s peanuts! Double that offer, Mr Sullivan

Who should he be compared to?

Andreas Christensen is on £35,000/week in Chelsea, he’s 21 but not a regular starter.

    Rashford is on £55,000/week.

I don’t think £30,000/week would spoil him more than, say, £15,000/week. And it is in fact 1.deserved, 2.something he would have had if being in a top 6 club, God forbid, if he was sold. Let’s hope that top 6 club is us in near future, but if that is to be the case we need to tie up this clubs biggest talent since Rio Ferdinand.

    3 things…
    1. why are the club telling all and sundry what they pay players? I wouldn’t like it if my boss told anyone my salary.
    2. notwithstanding point 1, that doesn’t seem a lot when we apparently pay lesser players more.
    3. if another club comes in and takes him off our hands who’s fault will it be?

If true and he is asking for 20k a week I think its fair enough they are paying Oxford that and he has been pants for us, Fredericks is reportedly on 35k a week and hasn’t played in the PL and likely to be a bench warmer. Rice has got a lot of potential, its definitely worth him sitting tight to get what he wants.

  • Hammerkip says:

That’s terrible he is worth more than that
