Kevin Nolan is looking forward to a great weekend as he joins the team for his first game as a member of the Hammers coaching team!
The former skipper could hardly be more delighted to have returned to the club after management stints at Orient and Notts County.
The Hammers though is home to the Scouser who spent four years at the club playing 145 games and scoring 30 goals.
Now having returned as a member of David Moyes’ coaching staff he is determined to enjoy the rest of the season despite the fears hanging over the fan base and club.
He claims he has seen enough of the lads to know that they can turn the situation around . If that happens we can all be assure that the 37 year old will have played a big part in it.
After seeing Jarrod Bowen, Tomas Soucek and Darren Randolph add to their options over January, Nolan is relishing the prospect of working with the squad.

“I can’t wait to get stuck into it. The gaffer has been absolutely fantastic, getting me right involved straight away – it’s all hands to the deck and let’s look forward hopefully to what’s going to be a good weekend.”
“I’ve seen enough from the lads in training [to know they can turn the situation around]. They know the task ahead, and we know the task ahead.
“This has been the first full week where the gaffer has been able to have a real input in what he wants to show, so I’m hoping we’ll see some good stuff and positive stuff at the weekend.
“We’ve all been in these situations before – we all know what’s needed and we’re very confident that we can get there come the end of the season.”
I feel that Nolan got unneccesary stick based on the perception that he was the favourite son of BFS (a bit like Nobes now gets stick just for being the captain). He now has the opportunity to become a true WH legend – the good thing is that he won’t shrink from the challenge. Just saw an interview with Bernardo Silva on Sky Sports News (I must say he was very articulate) – but this could be a good time to play City while they are navel gazing
I’ve always rated Kevin Nolan as a great and worthy captain of this club and a leader of men. He seems like a perfect fit as coach and I feel that he has got future manager written all over him. He is full of enthusiasm, energy and confidence and I’m sure it will rub off on the whole squad.
If I have one regret, its that we didn’t have him signed up at the start of Moyes reign. But I’m looking for a response and an upturn in our fortunes.
He is a very poor appointment. He will place his faith in players like Fredericks, Noble and Snodgrass and leave better players on the bench. I am afriad that his appointment will change nothing but will just continue what Moyes is doing, not making the big calls and not being positive in his tactics. I don’t rate him one bit and if you ask the people at his previous clubs they would agree. The appointment of Moyes and now the appointment of Nolan has made the job of avoiding relegation even more difficult. If we do survive it will be the players who will achieve it, not these but if our better players are on the bench then we will go down. Anyone who continually picks Fredericks and Noble in the team just don’t understand the negative impact they are having on the team.
