West Ham United today laughed off reports that Fulham may believe they could succeed in a £4.5 million bid for Ravel Morrison.

A morning newspaper report claiming that the Cottagers are ready to up their bid for the 20 year old was dubbed “derisory” when we put it on a highly placed source this morning.

Morrison’s future has been the subject of ongoing speculation since the window opened with Fulham reported to have lodged bid of £7 million for both him and Mohamed Diame.

Given that the release clause in Diame’s contract is set at £3.5 million a bid of £4.5 million for Morrison would represent a £1 million increase.

We were told: “That would be derisory and totally unacceptable although I would stress there have been no offers..

“Were there to be they would need to START at double that – we have no real intentions of letting him go but as they say, every player has his price.”
