Dick Advocaat has resigned as Sunderland boss, Sunderland were two nil up yesterday before conceding two to leave Sunderland winless after eight games.
The 68-year-old Dutchman was appointed in March, when the Black Cats were one point above the relegation zone.Β He guided them to safety and was due to leave the club in the summer, only to sign a new one-year contract.
Advocaat said: “I have made the decision to go after only eight games as I felt it was important to give everyone time to turn things around.”
Former Sunderland player Sam Allardyce has become the bookies odds on favourite to replace Advocaat at odds of 4/5 despite declaring he isn’t ready to return to football just yet.
Watch out Mackems, there is a Hippohead stirring from his mudhole. He is heading your way.Good luck with that one π
Good god I feel for them
Nolegs is probably getting excitable as well. Will Hippo take his free agent boy if he gets the job. Then i really would feel for the Mackems.I know the Sunderland fans will be wanting Hippos stability & keeping them up but the gloss soon wears off after the first year of him.Poor guys, lol π
Be careful what you say lads. You will have one of the ‘I will forever be grateful for what you did Sam’ brigade turning up to kiss his butt, lol π
BFS is odds on favourite for the job – with Kevin Nolan as his sidekick no doubt!
The West Ham home game against Sundeland will be interesting – all the animosity that West Ham punters feel against BFS could make it ugly!
One of my best buddies is a Sunderland fan,he is dreading Hippo turning up at the Stadium of Light already, lol
Advocat said he wouldn’t leave unless he thought there was nothing he could do to turn the club around. So advocaat with all his years of experience and managing at the highest level in the game doesn’t think he can save Sunderland. So that said, what manager in his right mind would want to take over a club like that, a sinking ship. It would be better to wait until they are relegated and at their lowest ebb and then try and steer the ship with a new master at the helm, through the murky championship waters in the hope you can ride on the crest of a wave back into the premier league. Much better to do that I think.
