After Pelle’s pathetic presser the the end is nigh

|

It’s been a pleasure to sit in on hundreds of press conferences down the years but I’m really glad that Manuel Pellegrini’s were not among them.

In the digital age there’s really no need because his words appear on club videos and the like within seconds – the prospect of actually having to attend and listen to some of the garbage he spouts is a horrifying prospect.

My sympathies to all those who have to because of the hundreds of bosses I’ve heard discuss the before and afters of matches there have been none as excruciatingly dreary and often sometimes nonsensical as the Chilean’s “in this moment” 🙂

There’s often a language barrier problem of epic proportions when even after they have been transcribed and land in my in box I’m struggling to understand them to the point where numerous paragraphs are just deleted.

Here was the more understandable stuff from his post match presser tonight:

  •  “When you are winning 1-0, of course you are disappointed after you lose the game 2-1,”
  •   I don’t remember any saves made by Roberto, but finally we lost.
  •  I don’t think we played a bad game today, but you need to have a good performance and have results.
  • We must be more concentrated in defending, especially for their second goal.
  • “We need to recover in 48 hours and we must try to win our home games because in the last games we played there, we have not collected the amount of points that we need,”

CandH ratings man Niall McDonald – as frustrated and angry as the rest of us – commented on the CandH Facebook group @ https://www.facebook.com/groups/363174467150521/ for all of us when he said: “I’ve no idea what he’s talking about there.

” It was a dreadful game from two bad sides. Neither side looked like scoring until we did and woke them up. Even then, I think it was the manager’s substitutions that turned the tide in their favour.

No team can sit on a one goal lead in any league, as you are always susceptible to a moment of magic.
As for not remembering a save the keeper made – he made one terrific save!!

Niall’s nailed it and after the five comments I’ve pinpointed from his after match post mortem were I his boss he’d be gone by now. This is not the way a manager who has lost nine games – many from winning positions – should be reacting.

Right at this moment we are a total mess, he cannot lead us from it and the board has to do the right thing and send him on his way!

End of!

Agree, a total mess, demonstrated by Noble attacking Ogbonna. Must be massive dressing room issues that we are not aware of. Having to be held back from fighting with your best defender of late at 0-0 is beyond belief from a captain. I know the rose tinted glasses wearers will say it’s passion but in truth it was a display of total amateurism and evidence of the mess we are as a club. From board to manager to players.

    • Peter Dobbs says:

I was pretty shocked by Nobes. The thing is after that outburst ogbonnas concentration could have gone right out the window. Luckily it didn’t, but it’s totally pathetic, should have subbed immediately. Pelle hasn’t a clue, less of a clue than Grant, the difference here is that Pelle has had a lot money spend, Grant didn’t. The big concern for me is that board seem prepared to back Pelle into the new transfer window…

    • Jon says:

      Oh dear,
This is a slow and painful death,
I’m not sure getting moyes is the band aid needed to fix the mess the bleats and Pellegrini have made.
Then again see their tenure of Birmingham where they had a budget of 5 mil max on a player and seems they have carried this into West Ham.
The board know how to ruin my December

    • Colin says:

This is a manager who I believe has never been in a relegation battle and hasn’t a clue how to get out of it perhaps more worrying is that a lot of the players look like they don’t know either which is probably why Noble lost his rag.
I never thought I would say this but let’s get David Moyes back.

  • AspiEd says:

    Deja vu, all over again…………

There’s little wrong with Pellegrini’s English; just his accent is difficult to understand.

His insistence on stating the obviously would be the same in any language.

  • David Hughes says:

The board are acting disgracefully, only thinking of money, its time they woke up before it’s too late. Surely they realise we are heading towards relegation, which will be a financial catastrophe. When will they treat the fans with respect and make the change. I believe they will keep hoping for the best with the current manager and will not change until it’s too late. Pellegrini is way past his sell by date, the situation is farcical. As a life long hammers fan of 40 plus years, I despair. When will the board put us all, including Pellegrini out of our collective misery.
Enough is enough, its time for change before its too late. Anyone could do betterthan Pellegrini, just dont let the change be Moyes.

    • Hammerkip says:

Word is the protesters are organising again and who can bksne them considering the board refusal to act..I thought it may come to this since a couple weeks ago

    • Kevin says:

Can’t See anything wrong with Moyes right now , David . As you say “ anyone could do better than Pelligrini “ .

    • Togstr says:

      Agree David, but what’s new?

    • paul Smith says:

i dont think they can get a replacement mate.

    • Paul says:

Yeah Moyes would be a terrible replacement.
He would utilize our 3 decent central defenders by playing them together.
That would utilize the speed of Freddy and Arthur as they would be wing backs allowing us to play without wingers. That would allow us to play a better midfield as they wouldnt be as far apart because the wing backs push in. Fornals, Lanzini and Rice.
He would make us more solid defensively also.. What a dam nightmare it would be

  • Dusty Miller says:

If the board keep Pellegrini it will be a struggle to get 7 more wins to get 40 points for the remainder of this season and you might as well count any serious involvement in the FA cup as void ( got the league position to worry about) it does seem to be doom and gloom as for” the next level “🤣) with the present management????? But who would want to manage our present squad to play as a happy bunch of players who are having a go at one another on the pitch today?

  • Ken says:

Team website oddly quiet since end of game. No posts.

  • Jeff says:

Why oh why change an 11uplifted and in sync after going ahead. Do we have players incapable of lasting 90 minutes? If so either get new trainers or fire the players!!! I wish I could get paid for doing 2/3 of a work day!!
MP is an absolute pathetic excuse for a manager!!!
Wrote weeks ago he had to go but we have even worse directors who also don’t have a clue and because of their thin stingy pockets can’t build our great club.. Top 6 stadium, Championship Squad without Howe!

  • Kevin says:

In this moment the manager should be out the door . We should be hearing or reading the Headlines tomorrow that he is gone . End of . We can’t keep giving him second , third & fourth chances . It has to be now , tonight before the sun comes up . Otherwise we will be relegated .

  • Hammers64 says:

Total MESS..Players at each others throats on the pitch and star man crashes Lambo whilst dressed as a snowman. Can you imagine Ron Greenwood Or John Lyall allowing this to happen.?.

  • Colin says:

Sack the board, they appointed him, and they have so far failed to sack him..
If they go for Moyes, I will give up.
They, the owners do not have a clue how to run a football club.
The sooner they sell up the better.

  • Paul says:

Soley the managers fault? How many seasons in the last 8 years have we struggled to stay in this league no matter who manages and who plays?
The whole regime isn,t good enough anymore in the modern game.
Professional standards need to start from the training ground up , then staff and so on.
We have cheap owners who have no idea about football. Its a miracle we are still in Premier League. If it wasn,t for Moyes pulling that feat off we would be struggling in championship with the largest in stadium screen in the world.
We would be a team with no identity. No stadium that is ours. No ambition from owners and no decent manager wanting to manage us. If it wasnt for Moyes this would have been a reality.

  • jeffrey lewis says:

I fear that the board will sit too long especially as he has the backing of Karen Brady, Pepe has obviously lost it, players are not turning up for him on the pitch, maybe he’s past it?

  • Saul says:

I imagine if we lose against Leicester, sorry, when we lose against Leicester, Pelle will be relieved of his duties. Would be madness otherwise. I must say though, aside from a piece of magic from Ayew we would have got a point at a team who has been brilliant at home this season. Moyes is not the answer and there is no way he would sign on for 6 months. He’d ask for a 2 or 3 year contract, rightly so, and then we would be stuck with him for at least 18 months. I don’t want that. Why shouldn’t we shoot for Poch or Kovac?

  • Hammer_Rite says:

First thing i did this morning was to check bbc sport website to see if there was any news about pellegrini……nothing. Then checked the gossip columns from the papers….not even talking about him.
How many more matches will we lose before the board decide to sack him.
    Totally dispirited at the moment.

  • George Green says:

Two great managers who would not want to work for our hopeless owners.

  • Ian Perry says:

After 69 years supporting this club I give up the management have no idea this is exactly the same story as Birmingham Money

  • Jim says:

What a contrast, Palace who, no disrespects to them should never take 6 points from us, was at the game yesterday and everyone new what was going to happen. Got to say well done Palace and looking at there place in the league just shows what a smart operator Roy Hodgson is , loads of injuries and they out thought us and out played us, and we cant blame the goalkeeper this time.. Previous comments by everyone spot on. Merson said a few months back bottom 3 for west ham by christmas, hes a tad out , but of all the teams in the bottom half of the table we are the softest touch, truly believe next 2 games will settle our season EFL coming up and of course Gillingham [ on TV as its an upset waiting to happen]. I just feel our club is DEAD, THE HEART AND SOUL RIPPED OUT . The board are not able to take this club any further, and where i believe as fans they must be unhappy with whats going on , but they RUN IT, fortunes spent on a management team thats failing, ground not fit for purpose, team spirit poor, fans top draw but we count for nothing. I hope Moyes if asked sticks two fingers at them, treated badly i felt. IF MP goes who is out there ????? to manage . Brilliant running of a club look no further than Daniel Levy, removes a manager better than we will ever get and another top manager in within 24hrs . Reading other comment recently about Fabianski due back, slight plus but we aint scoring or defending goals , Be a shame to see Noble end his career in a relegated team after being someone that does CARE. Got all that off my chest as they ruined my christmas. HAPPY NEW YEAR to all and C+H

  • HammerJK says:

Totally agree that he should be sacked now. No more waiting. Can only hope that the board are working hard in the background to find a replacement. If they’re not then they deserve the criticism being aimed at them.
Team selection was wrong yesterday. I know he scored but beyond that Snodgrass was terrible yesterday. His hard working nature is no longer covering his average ability or his lack of pace. If there was a spotlight on him yesterday it would have shown him constantly giving the ball away with poor passes and getting caught in possession.
On the face of it we created some good opportunities. A two on one in the first half when Snoddy should’ve found Fornals. At PL level that had to be 1-0. There was then the mix up in the Palace defence with the keeper in no mans land. Ball fell to Snoddy and he made an absolute mess of it. Then again in the second half he had a great chance to make it 2-1 and yes it was a great block but the finish from Snoddy gave the defender the chance to block it. Again he should’ve scored. This is how he has been for the last 5 in a row. His goal covered the fact that he was totally useless throughout the rest of the game. Should’ve been nowhere near the starting line up and to sub Fornals for for Lanzini was a joke

  • Michael Miller says:

I can’t help but think that the Board won’t make a decision, they’ll just let The situation drift on and hope for the best!

….and to be fair the Punters are as undecided and split as the Board about what to do. I’ve always been a supporter of David Moyes but I keep on seeing so many people commenting against him – it’s the West Ham way!
