Pellegrini’s verdict follows the same old script

|

Manuel Pellegrini was reciting more or less the same old script after another disaster and not bit of it washed!

And that’s because he’s a master of talking the self evident as regularly as his teams produce the obvious and predictable on that pitch.

That usually – like today – involves taking the lead and then getting beaten because the opposition, unlike us, take the situation a little more seriously that our manage and team manage.

He is now well and truly the wrong man in the wrong place at the wrong time but once again tuned up to give the usual dreary analysis of yet another game that we away through lack of concentration, energy  and resilience.

Whether this will be the last time we have to bring his thoughts remains for now in the collective minds of the board but it has to be if they want to be owning a Premier League team next season…of that I am now 100 per cent sure.

Speaking at  https://www.whufc.com/news/articles/2019/december/26-december/manuel-pellegrini-lack-concentration-cost-us-again  he said: “It was similar to the game we played with Crystal Palace at home, when we had the lead and they didn’t create any chances and finally by the end they scored from two set pieces.

“Now, they scored in the last minute of the game. I think that maybe we dropped a little bit too much inside our own box after we scored because we were dominating the game and I don’t remember any saves made by Roberto, but finally we lost.

“We always try to be consistent team, but one or two balls decided this game. We played well against Southampton and we played well against Chelsea and I don’t think we played a bad game today, but you need to have a good performance and have results.

“Playing away, winning 1-0, I think we deserved a better result, but you must be concentrated in your defending until the last minute. We must be more concentrated in defending, especially for their second goal.

“I don’t know if it is mentality or a lack of concentration. When you are playing well, maybe you don’t need to change, but many times we have had the lead in the score, but we were not able to keep it.”

“I trust in Roberto because he has a career behind him,” Pellegrini explained, when asked if he had had any reservations about recalling the 33-year-old. “If you review this game, he didn’t have any important saves, but he was solid and had a good game.

“The save he did make [from Connor Wickham] was definitely offside, but he made a good save and I’m happy for him, but the best way to be happy when he returned after so many had criticised him was  to win this game.”

Get rid of the manager and give the U23 manager ago. He cannot be any worse

  • Kenny Irons says:

How many times more do we have to read this drivel !!
The man is completely deluded and he should be gone tonight.

  • master says:

Oh good god he’s gonna keep Roberto in goal next game too isn’t he?

    Fraud.

  • Pacific Claret says:

Step 1: Get a caretaker Manager.

Step 2: Get a proper Director of Football who knows the business.

Step 3: Get a Manager who is not at the end of his career and not burnt out.

Step 4: Get rid of a few players and buy people who try for 90 minutes.

Otherwise I feel we are going down.

Were reading the same rubbish of him every week..CAN YOU PLSE put us out of our misery ffs …get it done NOW…
Ive said for last 2 months nothing will change until he is gone …what are they doing, what do they think will happen…so soul destroying…another calamity of a season, will it ever change…

  • Togstr says:

    Next level beckons.

  • jim brookes says:

having not being able to watch the game i relied on bbc comments 1 being that roberto was an unusual goalie being in that he could make himself look smaller between the sticks, that being said that as a near on 60 year fan i cannot remember a worse manager than pelle i myself would sack him tonight and give our under 23 team a chance they can surely do no worse

  • JayMan says:

I understand the sentiment and am as frustrated as everyone else but who are we going to be able to replace him with; and please do not mention Moyes, the man no one wants?!!

  • Bubbles68 says:

If our owners weren’t cheapskates he’d have been sacked a month ago. Changing manager is dealing with the symptoms not the cause. Our owners are out of their depth at this level. Until they sell up it’s going to be more of the same since they took over.

Yes, let’s be grateful they saved us…but the fabled “next level” isn’t going to come under their ownership.

    • West Ham Fan No 32 says:

Agree Bubbles, the cause is the owners, certainly their consistent track record of making poor choices. Agree and am genuinely thankful for them saving us but to get to the next level will require deeper pockets and a better strategy. It looks like on the u23 side we are doing well but we need a first team strategy that aligns. I think Bielsa has the answers but whether that is an option who knows. …

  • Hammers64 says:

To be honest I am fed up of writing on this forum and hoping my little input will get seen by the owners. How the Hell is this man still our manager. You have turned us into a laughing stock of a club now. When are you going to get a grasp on reality.Never mind saying a candidate is not available.Get Halajko in before this guy causes terminal damage.

    • Blimey 64 there’s a bit of self importance there. Why would you, me or anyone else have them suddenly turn round and say: “Ah that bloke has nailed it” LOL

      • Hammers64 says:

I know Hugh .I can dream.. Owners, managers and players come and go but for us its from the cradle to the grave hence the passion.Hard to describe to people who do not love football as we do how it can make you feel like this when your beloved club is crashing on the rocks with a clueless man at the helm.

      • Alan says:

Its hard not to agree with all the coments above. I was really hoping we would push on abit this year and its not happened. Ive relinquished to a relegation scrap for rest of season. Pelle certainly isn’t the man for this club maybe give the under 23 coach ago he certainly was responsible for the chelsea win with a simple tactical talk with the team.

  • kcockayne says:

I agree, Pellegrini has to go. But, I am worried about who might succeed him. He reminds me of Avram Grant – completely clueless. It is unbelievable that we can surrender so many winning positions – this has to be remedied. Quite how, I have no idea. But, our problem is the lack of professionalism & ability in our defence. Just when they seem to be on top of things, they panic; & then repeat the panic to lose the match. Whoever takes over has to sort this out immediately. That, to my mind, means replacing the entire defence – although there is a place in the squad for Diop & Balbuena. Ogbonna has generally played well in recent games, but I worry about his concentration & impetuosity. Fredericks is not up to the job & Zabaleta is well past it. Musuaku ? What is he doing playing outside the Combined Counties League ? Cresswell hasn’t done too badly lately & could be kept on to provide continuity; but only as a squad member. Apart from that, we have to have players in the side who have a never say die attitude – & the ability to defend. What makes this sickening is that this wasn’t a bad performance (apart from the two lapses) , & we blew 3 points !
