Ajeti completes Celtic switch

|

Albian Ajeti has signed for Celtic in a permanent transfer on a four-year contract.

The Swiss striker arrives from West Ham in a £4.5m deal on a four-year contract, after arriving in Glasgow from Basel for a medical on Wednesday.

Ajeti has been capped 10 times by the Swiss national side, and leaves the Hammers after one season.

The 23-year-old made 12 appearances during his time with West Ham, but failed to score. Prior to his time in England, Ajeti scored 37 goals in 75 appearances for Basel in Switzerland.  The £4.5m deal is thought to include up to £1.5m of add ons and a 15% sell-on clause.

STV journalist Raman Bhardwaj tweeted: “Celtic have completed the signing of striker Albian Ajeti. 4 year contract. He joins from West Ham in a £5m deal.”

It is believed that Brentford made a late £5.5.m bid to hijack the deal but the striker wanted to sign for the Scottish Premiership champions.

Never got a chance to show us.Will be judged on that performance vs West Brom in the cup.Same can be said of Hugill. All players need a good run of games when brought in but unfortunately as we perennially fight relegation we cannot afford that luxury so the search for that elusive 20 a season striker goes on.Must be over 20 years since Hartson did it which is a hell of a time in football.
