Touch of sadness as Joe moves on again

|

joe-cole-west-hamI’m sure everybody will wish Joe Cole all the best in his decision to ply his trade at Coventry City.

Joe has decided to move down to League One and has excited the Sky Blues fans more than any signing the club has made in years.

The club are currently sitting in fifth place with a game in hand on those above them and three points behind leaders Walsall.

I’m sure Coley will have a massive impact but personally as, like most, a fan since he first burst onto the scene at our place, it’s a move tinged with a touch of sadness.

At 33, and with something of an injury history, it’s brilliant that he still wants to play but I always find it sad to see a great player slipping down the divisions.

Having said that, if he can help take a fine old club – which has had more than it’s share of woes in recent years back to the Championship it will be a fine swan song.

Interesting viewpoint. Up here the excitement has gone through the roof. The sky blues are treating it like the messiah. For me, I may go and watch him myself. Talent is talent .

Joe was a fine player & once praised by Pele himself. He still has something to offer Coventry & will no doubt be a drawcard. Served our club, some others & England well. He went in 02-03 season when Brooking took over from Roeder & we went down. That was some squad too. Heard a story once, Joe was at a restaurant, there was this kid with his mum for lunch. The kid had a West Ham backpack & knew who Joe was. As the boy & his mum left, Joe, who was playing for Chelsea at the time, gave the boy a sly wink & a smile. Hope he enjoys his time there & they give him the respect he deserves which it sounds they will.

If Joe had been sold to Barca instead of Chelski he would have had a totally different career BUT Jose killed him .. tracking back and safety 1st football what a stupid idea with a god given talent. He should have been given his wings to fly not had them clipped
