All you need to know about Vladimir Coufal

|

Vladimir Coufal was born in the city Ostrava in Czechoslovakia and stands 5ft 10 ins.

The right back started his football career at FC Hlučín in Czech second division making 14 appearances between 2010 and 2012 before joining SFC Opava on loan in the Czech first league making 13 more appearances and scoring one goal.

He then moved to FC Slovan Liberec in 2012 for an undisclosed nominal fee and went on to play 118 times for Czech club scoring three goals over six years.

In July 2018, Coufal joined Slavia Prague on a three-year contract, for an estimated transfer fee of €700,000 signing a four year contract extension in August 2020.

The 28-year-old Czech Republic international and former team-mate of West Ham’s Tomas Soucek was part of the Czech side that beat England 2-1 last October in the European Championship qualifiers.

Coufal has had a couple of seasons at Slavia Prague and has thus won two successive domestic league titles.

Moyes will clearly have received recommendations from Soucek on Couval ahead of the six million euro deal.,

The Hammers now have a good relationship with the Czech league club as a result of the Soucek deal and that helped negotiations.

Good news – if he’s half as good as Soucek then he’s very welcome. Let’s hope we get at least one more defensive reinforcement before the window closes. We are only one suspension or injury away from a defensive crisis. We lose a lot in midfield if Rice plays at CB. I think 3 at the back suits our squad, but Cresswell can get beaten in the air too easily and has lost some pace. He has been a fantastic player over the years and had a good game against Wolves, but another left sided CB who can also play LB if needed would be helpful – unless any of the u23’s are ready to step up.

He will be a welcome addition and can hopefully mentor BJ.
Unclear why his goal scoring statistics are mentioned. Can he pass, cross, tackle, run? Does he have good positional sense?
    Welcome Vladimir!

Soucek, Coufal, Kral = Slavie, Czech team. Alex Kral 22 years at the same time Spartak Moscow. Kral is a variant of Rice. Look https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pcSgtnfssFk
