Allardyce: I don’t listen to the stories!

|

miserSam Allardyce claims he isn’t listening to stories that there are “question marks” over his job.

Asked directly about the issue in his morning press conference he said he dealt with it the same way as he does most things in the game – by not listening!

He added: “It’s not my desire to listen to praise or criticism. I like to be professional and work with the people within the football club to try and get the best out of them. I hear things but I don’t take any notice of it. ”

And he claims to be unconcerned “that ” X, Y and Z is being linked with his job” adding: “There was speculation last season same as this season, I think there always will be. It seems to me it occurs if and when you get a bad result.”

Good to see Allardyce is moaning & making excuses again.Almost a full article in his normal Evening Standard column moaning about fixture lists, tired players, blah, blah, blah.Saying everyone was disappointed at the club about the WBA game but the fans should ask when was the last time we played so poorly,as if it was 3yrs ago.More like 2 weeks before at Liverpool.Even justified it by bringing Bradford beating Chelsea into the equation.Didnt see him laying any of the blame at his own feet though.

At last I can comment that I totally agree with the manager…he’s 100% correct for a change. No he doesn’t listen to anyone, Sullivan, Gold, his back room staff or Her Majesty the Queen….and probably not even his missus and that’s a complement. ha! ha!

Allardyce has to be hearing what is being said in the media about his future. If he isn’t then his agent certainly would be. BFS knows he has next to no chance of another contract so he will frustrate players and fans alike for the rest of the season.I can’t see Nene getting much game time while Allardyce is in charge. As has been said in this forum it is the Zarate saga repeating itself.

I think the key sentence to the whole piece appeared right at the last.

“There was speculation last season same as this season. I think there always will be. It seems to me it occurs if and when you get a bad result”.

We have hit a bad patch and the knives are out again. But I’d be amazed if the club were to sack BS at this time!

The facts are, the end of last season was the time if the owners were so inclined to part company with BS and then as now the reasons for not doing so are/were purely economic.
It was a business decision then and I believe it will be a business decision now.

Apart from anything else imo there isn’t a manager currently available who is better than BS or of sufficient quality and experience to take the club to the next level. And in any case I don’t believe the owners would change their plans at this late stage even if “the chosen one” or sir Alex himself were to be available!

But more importantly the owners weren’t prepared to take a gamble last season so they are hardly going to risk everything with the OS now within touching distance this season.

Don’t get me wrong I’m not BS greatest fan but he was a necessary evil when he was appointed and has largely done what has been asked of him by the owners,
I have never viewed him as a permanent solution, only one that leads us to the promised land when it will be a higher class of manager to take us on from there. COYI!

Of course he doesn’t hear any critism ,it would have to get past his overbearing ego first.
