Anderson – the fans aren’t happy

|
Felipe Anderson has become a Hammers enigma!
Bought for a record £35 million, he is continuing to frustrate the Irons fans with a series of  performances which brought a flood of comments of the ClaretandHugh Facebook page.
Here are some random comments from followers on his contribution at Leicester City yesterday.
He has been poor again and not player to have when a man down…no interest in getting stuck in and defending
Stop paying him until we sorts his head out!!!
O  Sadly he is not living up to his billing, or price
O Looks like his heart’s not in it. As someone who has watched him a lot. He is not playing as well as he was at Lazio.
O He’s desperate, poor passer and lazy  only had one half decent game for us since the start of the season.
O  Can accept a player having a bad game but lack of effort and commitment is totally unacceptable. Anderson just does not seem interested and is becoming a liability.
Both he and Chicharito looked inept.
O I don’t think he’s not trying I just think he’s somewhat lost still in regards to finding his feet.

One or two of the signings look ok this season. But Yarmolenko was always a big risk. Anderson looks a total waste of money. Heard Hartson singing his praises towards the end of the game yesterday. Was he watching the same game? I assume the same person/group made the decisions on Diop & Anderson so I guess it just shows you can’t win ’em all! Is he going to be another Zaza- looks that way.

I thought he was good, forget the price tag, the player doesn’t set the price he is sold for, we were held to ransom by Lazio, Anderson worked his socks off while he was on yesterday as did every player in claret and blue, ffs get behind the team and stop moaning, we are in absolutely no danger this season we are in a transitional phase to a new style of play, Anderson is learning a new language, getting to grips with a new culture in a team he is unfamiliar with, I think he is improving all the time, he set up the goal also lets not forget.

I couldn’t have put it any better myself,10 games into a new era but people want miracles. We need 2 more transfer windows and then we will see this team ticking.

  • Hammer64 says:

Well everybody is entitled to an opinion. I get behind the team when I go to the games. Never leave early, never boo the team. I think these forums are for expressing opinions & I can’t see the point of them if everybody is giving the same view.

I actually think he’s trying to hard to create sometimes with eye of the needle passes. He will improve I’m unsure if getting on his back will help though could be wrong. He done more than his fair share of defensive work yesterday considering he was supposed to be a winger largely because we were down to 10 men.

  • JB says:

I think he’s done fairly well. Had a mare with his corners against Spurs and it seemed to affect him but although he’s rarely set the world alight he’s done ok. Early days. Get off his back and give him a chance

  • blimeylimey says:

Anderson seems lost (And giving little effort at times) because he often does have an open man/pass on?
If a fit Alice Carroll was on the pitch, I reckon he’d be ok…?

So you couldn’t find any positive comments? Seriously what’s the point?

I think Anderson will grow with the new team and style of play. You can see he has talent it’s a new team & new league for him . I expect he will be every part as good as we expected just a little more time needed. For what it’s worth I think he worked hard yesterday. COYI ⚒

  • Stratford E20 says:

Arnie was getting a lot of stick this time last year. Waste of money, sell him, lazy etc. Some players need time and its also down to the manager to find their best position like Moyes did with Arnie. Fingers crossed that he improves for West Ham.

Unanimity would certainly be interesting Hugh-if about as likely as snow in August!

I have seen some genuine quality from Anderson. He did contribute to the goal yesterday and yes he has scored one. But I don’t think he has been consistent enough for a player costing that much money. It may be that by January he will have blotted out all memories of Payet. But if you are paying
that amount i would expect him to have overcome language problems, getting to know his team mates and the manager etc etc. a lot quicker. That would be why you are paying the big fee. That isn’t moaning or failing to back up your team. It is just a discussion point.

Accept the point of view H64 and agree with you about lots of different opinions being good for discussion, my view is that rightly or wrongly we can’t guess how long it will or wil not take for a player to settle in, just because we spent so much money on a player that doesn’t dictate that they should learn the language faster and adapt faster, much of the team is new, much of it foreign, A lot of players aren’t making decent runs for Anderson because we don’t seem to have single midfielder Anderson himself included willing to run in behind, the only player we have doing that is Arnie and Hernandez when he plays but they are forwards. I base my opinions on evidence, I see again rightly or wrongly a player trying his hardest, the stats would seem to back that up he is in the top 10 for tackles made, and in the top 10 in the league for creativity so I am not sure what else we can ask of him, on that evidence i think he is a good signing that will get better when we have a better central midfield, Wilshere who I was really looking forward to signing has been disappointing so far and is obviously injured, hopefully when Lanzini comes back he will hit the same levels and certainly he is not frightened to run in behind the opponents, likewise Carroll, he will create havoc by which the rest of the team can profit. I think most of the signings with the exception of Wilshere and Perez have delivered, Fredericks has a tough fight on his hands to displace Zaba but he has still been pretty decent, Fabianski, Diop and Balbuena have been immense, Yarmo was just starting to show what he could do and was a goal threat, Sanchez looked decent before his injury but we are a work in progress, Ferguson used to run a 4 year cycle at Man U, the first year they would be nowhere near the level but each year they would get better and better, I think that while the style of play is different for Pelle has a similar philosophy and it’s way too early too judge.

    • Sorry 64 I thought u were complaining at the unanimity. My mistake. I hold the view as blogged earlier that MP really does know what he’s doing and I can’t make a judgement after a handful of games
