Manuel Pellegrini has confirmed that West Ham’s injury list has grown from seven to nine players with Marko Arnautovic and Lucas Perez unavailable on Saturday.
But he has hopes that Arnautovic will overcome his virus and Obiang will return from his calf muscle sprain by the midweek game with Spurs.
Pellegrini told reporters post-match “Maybe for this week with the cup, Pedro Obiang maybe. We will see tomorrow, he worked today without any problems so maybe he can be fit for Wednesday.
We need to continue monitoring the situation with Marko Arnautovic and his virus. Lucas Perez also, I am not sure, he has a pain in his foot. The other six we have no option but at least to wait another couple of weeks.’
Manuel Lanzini (ACL), Andy Carroll (Ankle), Winston Reid (Knee), Carlos Sanchez (Knee), Jack Wilshere (Ankle) and Andriy Yarmolenko (Achilles) are the other absentees
So tedious. Every season the same old story. We start to show some signs of having a decent side & then half the squad get injured. Somebody will tell me all sides get injuries blah blah. But we are ‘top’ of the physioroom.com league AGAIN. The training ground reason has been laid to rest so why is it. Do we buy injury prone players because they are relatively cheap or because there is not enough research done on them. It can’t be our training methods surely? Just at the point when we have some winnable games & need to rack up some points.
I totally agree with the injury situation we do seem to get more than our fair share every season but it was nice to see yesterday that even with all the injuries and being a man down that we nearly took the 3 points,in many a season gone past we would have rolled over and took a beating.Good to see the fight for the cause.
