Antonio covid update

|

Exclusive by Hughie Southon

Mikey Antonio will need to pass two positive lateral tests ahead of unday if he is to take his place in the team that meets Southampton at the London Stadium.

ClaretandHugh can reveal exclusively that the striker has not suffered from covid himself but that his wife Debbie tested positive ensuring that the No 9 was forced to isolate for seven days.

However, he has until Sunday morning before the game to show that he has not been affected by the virus and thus make himself available for selection.

Whether David Moyes would then play him remains to be seen given his current form and that he would have been unable to train ahead of the game.

The only alternative available in those circumstances appears to be Jarrod Bowen.

And we are also told that at this point there no other covid problems in the squad as things stand
