Antonio departure rumours return

|

Crystal Palace are plotting a move for West Ham star Michail Antonio according to fresh reports in the Sunday Mirror today

The report claims that Roy Hodgson’s side are long-term admirers of the 29-year-old Londoner who they tried to sign last summer.

The logic in the article is there now a feeling they can get him after the Hammers strengthened their attack with Pablo Fornals and Sebastien Haller.

This sounds like another piece of recycled news without much substance in the absence of any solid Hammers transfer news.

Antonio finished last season strongly in great form and has been mentioned and praised by Pellegrini in press interviews a number of times.

He is perhaps seen by the manager as a backup striker for cover in addition to his normal winger role. With just two weeks remaining in the summer transfer window, we would be surprised if Antonio is be allowed to leave unless Palace made a fantastic financial offer too good to turn down.

Maybe if they bid £40m they are due to get for Wilfred Zaha we could consider it 😉

We need to keep Antonio at all costs. Should always by one of the first names on the team sheet

This one could be a real tough decision if good money comes in. I would rather keep Antonio. I love how he makes things happen, he offers something different from our trickier players and he gives his all.

That said, Crystal Palace have plenty of dough and they could have a hell of a lot more if Zaha were to leave. If they were to slap over 30m down for Michail, that would be incredibly difficult to turn down given he’s approaching 30 and may only play a bit part role this season if our key players remain fit.

We’ve had trouble getting top dollar for our players in the past and on a number of occasions we’ve sold at the wrong time. Arnautovic being a prime example of losing over 10m in 6 months. Personally I’d sell but only if a very large offer came in. I’d be looking to exploit Palace’s new found wealth. Hard though it is, we have to be forward thinkers and make tough decisions that benefit us long term. 30m buys you Pablo Fornals with some change to spare.

I love Antonio, what he lacks in technical ability at times he more than makes up for in power and strength. He is the heart of the team and will play a big part in our season. I would start him on the right with Fornals as an 8, I would start him up top or in a pair up top. Could you imagine the potential of Haller/Antonio. Alot of fans would be very sad and disappointed to see Antonio leave. Hernandez is different, he has to be sold this window. No point in keeping a player who knows he will be getting limited opportunities and so his heart is not fully in it.

Tomkins + at least 8mil. Jack Sullivan will put Antonio in the box with nice ribbons and drive to his girlfriend’s house. Lol

  • Zahama says:

Agreed Jonham – I would be gutted if Antonio were sold and relieved if Chicarito were sold

Cant see that happening at all. Pelligrini him gave captains armband yesterday when he made changes. Put two and two together i suspect get 5 again !
