I can understand the disappointment with Arnie – Hugh has been very generous with allowing the personal circumstances for Payet (the personal circumstances dont really explain why he wanted to leave after the post was named man of the match vs Hull). However for some of the younger players I feel that we should be ready to forgive – even Ince left in the wake of John Lyall’s sacking – and Lyall was a father figure to him – I think he has credited Lyall with saving him from prison. Lampard left after his father and uncle were fired – and had to deal with claims that he was only in the team because of nepotism. Defoe has many times regretted his transfer request and expressed his appreciation for the fans. It seems (from what Slav says) that in fact Diafra Sakho had been told he could leave before the board changed their mind.

Let Arnie leave and then we can concentrate on polls for the most loyal hammer – from Nobes to Carlton Cole taking a paycut when we were relegated
