Arsenal move for Hammers target – Ornstein

|

Arsenal are attempting to conclude a deal to sign Oleksandr Zinchenko from Manchester City, according to The Athletic’s David Ornstein.

Zinchenko was a target for the Hammers at the start of the transfer window.

Arsenal have already signed Gabriel Jesus from City and are now said to be working on a deal for the Ukraine international.

City are said to be willing to let Zinchenko go provided they receive the correct offer, and the two clubs are in talks as they attempt to find an agreement.

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta worked with Zinchenko, who can play at left-back and in midfield, when he was on the coaching staff at City and could reunite with him this summer.

No fee has been mentioned but Zinchenko is not the first-choice in his natural position at City, though Arsenal would need to find a way to meet his salary demands.

It appears unlikely the Hammers will get involved in the bidding.
