Report: Another striker linked

|

West Ham are now said to be considering a swoop to sign Giovanni Simeone from Hellas Verona, according to a new report in Italy.

The Irons are aiming to bring a new striker into the club this summer.

David Moyes wants Armando Broja from Chelsea and talks have also been opened with Sassuolo over a deal for Gianluca Scamacca.

But Calciomercato now claims the Irons are also lining up a potential swoop to sign Simeone.

He spent last season on loan at Hellas Verona from Cagliari and that deal has been made permanent this summer, with his new club now considering making an immediate profit on their new striker.

Simeone scored 17 goals in 35 games last season and he would cost in the region of £17m in this transfer window.

The Irons are currently looking at other options, so we can’t say that this one makes all that much sense at this point in the window, but it could be returned to if neither Broja or Scamacca end up at the London Stadium.

has no one worked out yet that Simeone has just recently signed a 4 year contract with Hellas Verona. When I say recently, I mean it came into effect on 1st July 2022…

…which makes the story even more incredible and highly unlikely. We have been linked to Simeone for the best part of almost two years and if it was to happen we could have made it happen before he moved to Verona on loan or indeed before the permanent signing.
This time last summer an identical story (not necessarily from this site) was reported for midfielder Antonin Barack who also joined the same club on a permanent basis only to be linked to West Ham immediately after signing his contract.
