Ayew and the 90 mins Avram connection

|

ayewHammer Andre Ayew was handed the captains armband by former West Ham manager Avram Grant to lead Ghana out in the crucial 2018 World Cup assignment against Egypt last night.

The player was making his return to the team after missing September’s qualifier clash against Uganda due to injury.

Ayew played the full ninety minutes but Ghana’s chances of playing at the 2018 Fifa World Cup were dealt a heavy blow on Sunday following a 2-0 defeat to Egypt.

Mohamed Salah’s first half penalty and Abdallah Said’s second half effort secured three points for the Pharaohs at the Borg El Arab Stadium in Alexandria.

Andre Ayew has been nominated for the BBC African player of the year award. Ayew joins Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Riyad Mahrez, Sadio Mane and Yaya Toure in the five-man shortlist for the BBC award. You can vote for him HERE
