Balbuena returns but bad night for Johnson

|

Fabian Balbuena made his return to action for the Irons under 23s last night but couldn’t help the youngsters halt a poor run of form which saw them slip to a 3-1 defeat at home to Blackburn Rovers.

And the defeat means that the team is now stuck in the  bottom two of Premier League 2 Division One to which they were promoted a couple of years ago.

They have five games to retain their status in the division.

It was a particularly disappointing result given that Ben Johnson, Grady Diangana, Nathan Holland and new signing Mesaque Dju were all involved. action last night, but fans will be most encouraged by Fabian Balbuena’s return.

In fact Johnson,  who did so well when called up against Manchester City returned to action himself after suffering a calf injury, conceded a penalty in last night’s game.

However, Balbuena’s return – with no ill effects – is likely, as expected to put him in line for a return to the first team squad against Cardiff on Saturday.

Coach Liam Manning praised Balbuena’s performance saying: “It was a great experience for the players to learn from Balbuena

“He’s had a couple of sessions with us and he’s what senior pros are all about; he doesn’t make mistakes that cost you,” he added.
