Over one hundred generous West Ham fans have donated £780 to a crowdfunding appeal to give Hammers super fan Ben Smith a proper send-off after his sad passing in October.
Chelmsford florists Springfield are now busy making a West Ham crest wreath for Ben’s funeral on the 16th November.
The money will also fund a Champions place stone with Ben’s name on it outside the London Stadium as a permanent memorial to the young man.
The remainder of the fund will be donated to Ben’s family to help with funeral expenses which include a West Ham coffin and bubble machines.
Ben’s sister Sunny posted a message over the weekend to say: “Funeral will be held on 16th of November at 12.30 pm at Harwood Park Crematorium, Datchworth, Stevenage. The family will be dressed casually, in jeans and West Ham shirts. Ben will travel with a beautiful West Ham wreath kindly donated by the West Ham supporters, For this reason, we would ask that people please do not send flowers. We have been blown away by the love and support you have all shown us over the past few weeks”
My heartfelt thoughts go out to Ben’s family at this very sad time. Im sure he will get the send off he truly deserves a true Irons send off. I find this very emotional because I have a very good friend who also has the same condition as Ben and on November 16th I am going to his birthday party so my thoughts will be with Ben’s family that day. I send this message with tears in my eyes at the bitter sweet memory it will leave on that day.
God bless you Ben R. I. P. ⚒️⚒️⚒️⚒️
Well done West Ham family
