Big Hammers summer ahead

|

Several Hammers will be involved in international duty over June in competitions which include the UEFA Nations League, the Copa America and the CAF Africa Cup of Nations.

Declan Rice looks set to represent England in the Nations League this month with places against the Netherlands and possibly either Portugal or Switzerland in the final up for grabs.

Fabian Balbuena is included in the Paraguay squad at the Copa America for games against  Argentina, Qatar and Colombia on the cards plus possible knock out games.

Arthur Masuaku and his DR Congo side will be at the Africa Cup of Nations this summer. The nation are in Group A and will play hosts Egypt, Uganda and Zimbabwe.

In the Euro 2020 qualifiers this month. Marko Arnautovic’s Austria will take on Slovenia and North Macedonia. Poland and Lukas Fabianski will also face North Macedonia, and will play Israel in their other qualifier.

Josh Cullen has been named in the Republic of Ireland squad. They will play Denmark and Gibraltar in their Euro 2020 qualifiers.

At a youth level, Nathan Trott will represent England U20s in the Maurice Revello Tournament against Portugal, Chile and Japan.

ClaretandHugh says: It’s great to see so many players involved at international level this summer at a time when most of us are already suffering withdrawal systems with less than a month gone since the 2018/19 season ended. However, alongside that is the natural worry that we could face injuries whilst the lads are involved in these games. Nathan Trott’s inclusion in the Maurice Revello Tournament is particularly interesting given that he is seen as the long term Hammers goalkeeping future. And with Roberto having now joined on a two year deal as back up to Lukasz Fabianski it seems that the youngster will  be going out on loan to a decent Championship club next season. Josh Cullen too is an interesting one as he heads back to the club after international duty determined to make an impact after helping Charlton back to the second tier in the play off final at Wembley against Sunderland..
