Big Sam swoops in for Hammers target

|

Former West Ham manager Sam Allardyce has identified  , Josh King, as his number one January target in West Brom’s desperate attempts to haul them out of the relegation zone according to the Daily Mail.

The 28-year-old has barely featured for Bournemouth this season, falling down the pecking order after making it clear he wanted to leave the Vitality Stadium.

Bournemouth have been open to offers but adamant they would not sell any of their assets on the cheap since their relegation last season and turned down bids for King of £7m from Torino and £13m from West Ham in the summer.

King also reportedly wants £70,000 per week for his last big pay deal with the Hammers unlikely to meet his demands.

However Claret and Hugh understand West Brom are skint too so whether the club can afford Bournemouth’s asking price and £70,000 per week on a three year contract is another matter altogether.

Cheap if he helps WBA to stay in PL. We don’t need him.

Personally, this one has been running for so long that it seems almost an inevitable deal… But I’m not so sure that I would spend £13M (money we haven’t got?) on a 28-year-old, with 6 months left on his contract. Add to that he hasn’t been playing too often this season, probably not up to speed fitness-wise and hasn’t been prolific in front of goal of late…. a bit of a gamble that I wouldn’t spend my money on.
West Brom, have no option but to “roll the dice”… But will King want to be relegated and end up in the Championship again and can West Brom afford King and his wages?
Give Mipo a little taste against Stockport and possibly 10 minutes here and there.

BFS is very good at spotting midfielders and defenders – but if I remember correctly he can be a bit clueless with strikers (John Carew, Sam Baldock, Nicky Maynard never really came off for us)

Let us see what happens and if I am forced to eat my words (Josh King scores the winner against us and keeps WBA up)

We must focus on us and I don’t think King is prolific in the first place. All wrong – not playing, wanting big money as a final hoorah, club wants millions to sell a bloke not playing in the EFL. Not for me. Call in chief scout Thomas Souceck!!

King can go play in China, though their new financial rules will make that less attractive. Pay-per-play only for us, I would hope.
