Bilic: “We want to keep transfers quiet as possible”

|

isniderYesterday Slaven Bilic appeared frustrated after name and name was bounced off him by journalists in his pre-match press conference ahead of tonight’s FA cup match against Manchester City.

Asked about Dembele he snapped “Don’t give me names. I know it’s the transfer window and it’s an interesting time for the media and the club but we want to keep it quiet as much as possible. Basically, the principle with us, as with many other clubs, is to keep it quiet until it’s finished one way or another.”

bilic-gloomIt is slightly bizarre that less than five hours after Bilic’s comments on wanting to keep potential transfer as quiet as possible until there are done or fail, the official website publishes their insider column all but confirming that West Ham have put bids in for Jermain Defoe, Scott Hogan and Moussa Dembele.

While transfer speculation is part of the fun of the January transfer window some have questioned the wisdom of the club itself releasing too much information in these ITK columns which are sponsored by Transfermate Global payments.

Another example of whatever the board do or say they are slagged off by some fans. They come out & say we want to sign ‘AN Other’ player & they get abuse for telling everyone, they then try & keep quiet & the same thing happens.
I’m not sure about the rules covering transfers but wouldn’t trying to arrange deals before thè window opens be breaking them? There is no point having a window if all deals are done before that window opens.

Lol yeah it is funny really. Some fans get aggitated when things are said in the open, others get aggitated because they are hearing nothing. You win some you lose some Essex 😁

I don’t want to get into the debate of should we or shouldn’t we over the “he did us wrong” with Defoe but Sean you are bang on with your comment re £55m for Dembele and Defoe. I think people have lost sight of just how ridiculous that sum of money is. People calling for the board to splash the cash and break the bank need to realise that these figures don’t just stop there, the higher the fee the higher the wage they want, the harder the negotiation and with Defoe that is dead money as there is no sell on fee possible and he will be used sparingly next season if at all. We are IMHO safe, there are 4 or 5 sides that will without a doubt finish below us, we wont make Europe this season so I say keep the cash, Play Fletcher and give Martinez a chance and see how they do. Fletcher and Martinez would be banging them in for Celtic against players not much better than part timers as well so a comparison with Dembele is hard. We need long term good prospects not a player who will completely split the fan base if he is bought. The scenario to me is that if Defoe is bought half the fans will be up in arms the other half appeased for a while. If he is not bought the half that want him wont be anywhere near as angry as those that don’t want him if he is bought and also we have the option to keep them happy with a quality buy like Hogan so for me Defoe is a no go for that and the money alone.

Puzzles me why they don’t agree deals before Jan 1st and then after window opens complete the paperwork and pay the money. Why wait until the the window opens before starting from scratch. As for keeping quiet about deals it’s impossible as agents want them in the media to see if anyone will pay more.

Transfer windows nowadays are nothing more than cattle markets, the real winners are the agents, as no move means no profit, the more buyers the higher the price.

Totally agree, its nigh on impossible to keep things quiet these days with players having more agents than you can shake a sh*tty stick at.
I dont give a sh*t about the boleyn insider, better things to worry about than some stupid column on a club website 😉

  • Radai Lama..Out of contract & available says:

Lol come on Ray dont get bitter.Go back to Whtid where you are loved & cherished 😁

  • West Ham Fan No 32 says:

On keeping the transfers quiet it is impossible, whichever one of the Sullivan’s posts that column should have their hands tied behind their back until such time as we sign a player. Slav will be bald again by the end of the window if it continues.

    • Radai Lama..Out of contract & available says:

Its impossible to keep bids quiet in my opinion No32,with or without The Sullys. If we bid for a player there is always someone down the chain that will make it public.I dont think we can enter into the realms of secret squirels, undercover agents & espionage during a transfer window lol 😁.Most things become common knowledge & you can be damn sure every other club knows exactly what others are up to or trying to sign.
Maybe the Boleyn Insider is throwing out porkies while we go for other targets 😁😁

  • Are you really suggesting we pay £55m? £40m for Dembele and £15m for Defoe?

Doesn’t sound great business to me

As opposed to these ITK columns which are sponsored by anyonethatwillpayusafiver@clickbait.com

Some of The Pants cant help it sometimes. They have to come here to look down their noses at this site & release their inner angst 😁

          You aint wrong there Lama.
Some of them really rate themselves & dismiss this site as below them.Having read some of the waffle they write though i would be winding my neck in if i was a few of them…

          • Ray_The_Hammer says:

Sorry to disappoint lads, but I speak for no one but myself, I don’t claim to represent any other site, I’m not that up myself. I have previously praised this site for being the best out there for up to date news and credible insider information about our club. However I have also criticised it recently, to both Sean & Hugh because the ads are becoming unwieldy and very intrusive, especially when trying to read it on a mobile device. Other than being banned by Hugh, simply for asking a question, I’ve had no response, hence my sarky comment to Sean. It wasn’t aimed at you fellas, I’ve no gripe or agenda and neither my criticism or praise is aimed at the posters on here.

  • Maravilla says:

Pay what the clubs want for Defoe & Dembele and be done with it !!
