Bowen: ‘I’ve had nothing but praise and positivity’

|

West Ham fans know a winner and a 100 per center when they see one and in Jarrod Bowen they recognise they have a prize asset in the making.

He made a fantastic impact on his arrival and in four appearances – three against top teams – he showed energy and the ability to make an impression at both ends of the pitch.

He has weighed in with a goal and is one of the reasons we can feel confident of a successful end of season. At a cost of around £20 million he looks a snip.

He has already revealed how important it is for him to hit the ground running when the season resumes and there’s no doubt a fast start will allow a little bit of relief to creep into a tense scenario.

New boy Jarrod has a big part to play and he understands the task in front of him and the squad.

Speaking at https://www.whufc.com/news/articles/2020/june/16-june/jarrod-bowen-lockdown-life-my-new-london-home he said: “Everyone’s in the same boat. It’s going to be tough, it’s definitely going to be strange, but the games that we’ve played here without fans have got us used to what it’s going to be like. It’s been good, and all we can do is play the conditions I guess.

“Our fanbase is incredible. Even since I joined – I’ve only been here a short amount of time – what I’ve received from the fans has been full of nothing but praise and positivity. We can carry that into the games that we play – even though they’re not here, physically they’ll be at home, watching, supporting, and we all know that.

“Don’t get me wrong, it’d be much better if we had 60,000 all here cheering, like the Southampton game, but unfortunately that’s not the case. We know we’ve got the full backing of them anyway.”

  • This young man has it all – football skills and a brain – his writing is first rate. He reminds me of another bright and educated young man who played for the Hammers a few years ago – Sir Trevor! If Jarrod can emulate Brooking’s career with WHU then perhaps he also will score the winning goal against Arsenal in the FA Cup Final at Wembley!
