Bowen poised for debut

|

Jarrod Bowen is poised to make his England debut tomorrow against Hungary.

The Hammers winger has been called up to the squad for the first time by boss Gareth Southgate.

The Independent reports that the 25-year-old is set to play in the Nations League clash with Hungary, particularly after Phil Foden was ruled out after testing positive for COVID.

England have three games over the next week and after playing Hungary on Saturday, they will face Germany on Tuesday and Italy next weekend.

Southgate will be keen for the Three Lions to put together a strong showing in the fixtures as England prepare for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar later this year.

The tournament kicks off in November and Bowen will be hopeful of receiving some minutes as he bids to prove his worth before the competition begins.

Bowen has never played for England at any level so his senior debut will be his first ever time wearing the Three Lions shirt.
