Brilliant Oggy: “We’re working to our strengths”

|

Such has been Oggy’s form since the start of the season he is right up there at the moment as a Hammer of the Yeat contender.

OK, early days but given the way he finished last season – injury not getting in the way – he should be right up there among the contenders at the end of the season.

But until then there’s business to be done and teams to hurt – something which he and the boys are doing very effectively right now.

And the sight of him and colleague at the back Fabian Balbuena almost creating a goal with a cross and effort from The General which hit the post was brilliant to watch as they switched to forward roles.

It’s that sort of improvisation which goes a long way towards creating the circumstances which see opposition teams floundering and caving – Oggy clearly loves it and doing all he can to make it happen.

Commenting he said: ” We totally deserved the win and we were ready for this game. This was the best way to bounce back after Manchester United.

His goal from the Cress well cross was superb and he said: “It was a fantastic ball from Cress and we needed that goal. It was tough for us because we know Leeds play well and run all over the pitch. I think it was one of the hardest games.

“We have to take advantage of our strengths and we work hard on the set pieces with the staff. I’m so happy for that.”

Ogbonna also had praise for Saïd Benrahma, who impressed on his full Hammers debut at Elland Road, having six shots on goal and providing a real threat all night.

The Hammers No21 continued: “He is a lovely guy. We’ve got many guys, not just him but Lanzini as well, Pablo Fornals, but this is the right way from him to start in the Premier League.

“On Friday he showed his quality, he’s very good on the ball and he can make a difference for us.”

Definite candidate for Hammer of the Year, stopping goals, scoring goals and showing a great example. Suddenly we look strong, confident and well organised. Thankfully we can name a few other candidates as well. Happy days.
