|

Phil brownSouthend United manager Phil Brown and old mate of Big Sam has dismissed speculation linking Southend goalkeeper Daniel Bentley with a move to West Ham. The Hammers had been rumoured to be interested in bringing the keeper to the Boleyn ground after Stephen Henderson contract was terminated by mutual consent and Raphael Spiegel  joined Crawley Town on loan.

Speaking to the local Echo newspaper Phil Brown said: “I heard the rumour and wanted to check it out so I gave Sam a call in New Zealand, you have to do these things to cover yourself, especially if you’re going to lose your first choice goalkeeper. However, Sam never made any reference to wanting to bring Daniel in.”
