CandH Exclusive: Aguerd recovery time revealed

CandH Exclusive by Hughie Southon

Nayef Aguerd could be out of action for as long as three months following surgery on his ankle on Monday.

The £30 million signing injured himself whilst making a retrieving tackle after losing possession in the game against Glasgow Rangers.

Initially it was believed the issue was relatively minor and the club today announced that he has received successful surgery without explaining the extent of the problem.

However, ClaretandHugh can reveal that the player has torn his ankle ligaments after talking to key contacts inside the club.

It means that the Hammers will start the season with the  central defenders with which they finished the last – Kurt Zouma. Craig Dawson and Issa Diop along with the now fully recovered Angelo Ogbonna.

Aguerd had become the marquee signing of the summer but we were told tonight that he could even be missing until November.

A  key source said: “It looks like three months – the surgery involved repairing torn ligaments and he will continue his recovery at Rush Green under our medics.”

It was only a couple of days ago that you were saying he should be ready for the first game. What changed?

whats changed come on mate its West Ham and our injury curse nothing changes there…..just worried now that they will start Oggy before he is ready…his injury last year and the way they have been managing his rehabilitation is right but if they put him in after just a few mins preseason i fear at his age the injury could flare up and may be the end of his career…..that leaves us with Dawson who has family problems which are far more important than football…so the other option is Diop who we want to sell but probably not now and Zouma deffo has a problem what kind who knows but he looks slow in preseason and he has a small injury i’m sure so who knows we could start against Citeh with Johnson and Cressy our centrebacks GULP

”CandH has learned this afternoon that the club medics believe there is no serious damage and are reasonably certain that the central defender will be available for what could be his toughest 90 minutes of the season against Erling Haaland.”

    Someone was telling porkies
