CandH verdict on manager Moyes

|

He’s has had virtually everything right all season but not tonight!

Manager Moyes was wearing a scowl for most of the match but I ope he wasn’t feeling the players had let everyone down because it was the other way around. Sorry Moysie – down to you and your tactics.

With no Pablo Fornals or Jesse Lingard he chose to bring in Mark Noble and Jarrod Bowen.

No complaints about Bowen but given we haven’t won a game when Mark has started, and with two creative talents in Lanzini and Benrahma on the bench you had to wonder quite what the idea was. Surely one or the other should have started.

Eventually – when we had gone behind of course – Noble was off along with Ben Johnson who had been switched from left to right for no apparent purpose.

So the game plan we all believed was in place at the start proved correct. He’d gone for a point after 15 games of having never won at the place.

It really wasn’t the fault of the players and you felt for one up Mikey in particular – poor selection and poor approach,.

Moyes rating 3

  • How on earth we go to old trafford and expect to get a result when we played for more than an hour with 10 men.Mark Noble should make West Ham a big favour if this football club is at his heart by telling David Moyes not to consider him for selection anymore not even on the bench . We saw the difference when Lanzini and Benrahma came on.

I agree when noble plays we lose rice thay cannot play together D m should know this by now he’s a bad manager

OMG what an anti climax . Can Moyes not see that Noble cannot play in the Premiereship anymore . We were slow ponderous and going side to side or backwards as a result . Even Moyes must have seen the vast improvement when Noble left having contributed absolutely nothing . Rice is only half the player when he is covering for Noble and his leadership was sorely missed . Lanzini is not having a great season and Banana is still finding his feet but they both did more in the 20 mins they were on the pitch than Noble . In an interview in the week Moyes said that Noble had been our best player when selected . The guy is a moron . We haven’t won a game with him in the team. Moyes is gutless and does not offer the club what is needed to move forward .COYI

When I saw the start up I said we will draw if not lose, never a win, for someone who was looking for a 3 pointer, Instead of Noble , he need to put Lanzini or Benrahma, and honestly I don’t know what Moyes has against Benrahma. We saw what he did when he came in, honestly as much as I like Bowen, but he has not been in his form at all. Actually to be honest Lingard place showed yesterday, and if we sign him permanently, I don’t think we will ever lose against his old side.
When Manu and benrahma came on we were another team. Please Moyes its a no brainer, when we play Arsenal I don’t want to see the name Noble in the start up, As everyone says bring noble last 5-10 minutes to kill the game.

For all his good work, It is unfortunate episodes like this that show david moyes limitations as a manager at the top of the game. 8 defensive players in the starting 11.

Time and time again he has reverted to this ultra cautious aproach with little to no success. Oddly doing the same against Brighton , at home.
The sad part is we would be less likely to concede if we actually had the ball. Is only through fabianskis brilliance it wasn’t a predictable margin.

It shows a lack of trust in the players. He cannot approach arsenal in the same manner.

  • Terence Greenaway says:

Moyes got it right, cancelling out potential threats from a strong Man U team. However what he constantly gets wrong is if and when he needs to bring on substitutes. He is influenced by the score and not the performance of individual players. Johnson and Noble was the right decision to be substituted , but this should have happened at half time. I’m sure his mindset was as it’s 0-0 we won’t change, he makes the same mistake time and time again.

  • Rigamortis says:

Rubbish. Exactly why Man City lost against Man U. Man U want teams to come out and attack them. Their whole game is built around fast counter attack. If you ask me moyes got it right, with only the exception of Noble. Should have played benrahma instead of Noble.

  • Kevin Walsh says:

Any West Ham fan would have been disappointed with the team selection tonight. We all know Mark Noble, God bless him is too old, and Johnson is too young and inexperienced. We gave ManU the initiative from the start. The sad thing is the players we have were quite capable of giving it a go. I think most of the players were unhappy with the tactics and would prefer to fight. I would rather lose 3 nil than having to put up with that boring defensive trash that we were forced to endure tonight and I feel sorry for all the Sky viewers, it is embarrassing and it is not the West Ham way

  • Macca says:

Very frustrating! Moyes does this every time against the top teams. So predictable, shutting up shop from the start and only going more attack minded when we go behind. No wonder he’s never won at Old Trafford as a visiting manager. So disappointed, as soon as I saw the starting eleven. 😡

  • Hammerpete says:

It was a huge dismay to view the line up – starting with Nobes is a massive signal – this bus is parking. Sorry DM but it failed miserably – again. Nobes can’t sustain it, most of the game passes him by, he is now a sub not a starter. Even Gary Neville was sorry for us because it wasn’t us!! Even worse was the massive transformation when the subs came on. What is this inferiority complex thing at big clubs? West Ham – grow a pair please!!

  • Trevor says:

Moyes has spent the last 20 years playing away at the so called big teams and getting nothing, let himself down again tonight, gutless chicken scared, can you image champions league Bayern Munich away forget about parking the bus how about the plane, the players can’t be happy with that ridiculous tactics, Noble can only come on for the last 10 to kill a game , how many more times will he start him and we lose ???
Have some belief in the players and let them play moyes

  • Saul says:

It’s borderline cowardice from Moyes. He can’t face a so-called big team without resorting to negativity and a lack of belief in his players. How do they gain confidence when playing these teams if they’re set up for a point at best every time? Same against them in the cup, as well as against Liverpool, Chelsea and Spurs away. Talk about dreams fading and dying. And Noble instead of Benrahma? Really? So negative. So disappointing

  • johnham1 says:

I have a word for him “Gutless”, does not trust his players.
