Carroll interview a very big deal indeed

|

Carroll fist upAndy Carroll is the last footballer in the world to court the media – he loathes giving Press interviews or facing a camera.

Believe it or not, those who know him well will tell you he is a  shy and retiring bloke – you may see the odd picture of him in the ‘papers but interviews really aren’t his thing …UNTIL NOW!

And the fact that he has been moved to open up on  how he sees this season and beyond is great news for all those Irons who believe he remains a top front man.

Newspapers have been manufacturing stories of a move back to Newcastle almost since the guy arrived at the Boleyn.

Some of this has been based on the fact that he has two children living on Tyneside and that some felt he may be ready to go back – in part – for that reason.

But that he should all but deny any interest in such a switch publicly is a very big deal in his world

He spoke of being up for the fight for places, that competition was good and he was ready to meet challenges.

And then he said this: ” “It (the Olympic Stadium) looks fantastic and everyone is looking forward to being there..

“We cannot wait to be a part of it. It’s going to be one of the best grounds around – both the inside and outside look fantastic.”

There has not been a person in the know within the club who has said anything other than that he will be staying.

ClaretandHugh believes the guy can achieve everything he wants to at West Ham that is well and truly on the march to perhaps greater times than it has enjoyed in two or three decades.

That he should have given such a comprehensive interview speaks absolute volumes and puts things to bed once and for all.

Right, I hear what you say but IMHO he has got a lot to do to justify his fee, wages and even his place in the team.

I’ll go back to the old point about his style of play forcing BFS to play to his strengths by ‘lumping’ the ball – an interesting point I read the other day about maybe it will be all different if he plays up with a partner – him having to charge about like a lunatic chasing his flick-ons didn’t do him any favours – we’ll see!
