West Ham have taken the unusual step of releasing the results of Andy Carroll’s scan results from this morning. A statement on WHUFC.com this afternoon said: “West Ham United can confirm Andy Carroll underwent a scan on his left leg on Thursday morning.
“The results show an injury to his hamstring, which is expected to keep him out of action for a month.
“Carroll’s absence means Slaven Bilic is likely to use either Enner Valencia or Nikica Jelavic in the Hammers attack for Saturday’s trip to Newcastle United.”
This morning Bilic told a press conference he thought it could be as short as three and a half weeks.
“ He’s got a scan today at 10.30am so we are going to wait for that but It’s a hamstring injury. We are going to wait for a scan, it wasn’t like boom, the big one, it was a little one, it’s in-between. It’s a couple of hours we have to wait and see but hopefully it’s going to be three and a half weeks .”
Yesterday Hammers Head of Medical and Sports Science, Stijn Vandenbroucke said “Unfortunately Andy Carroll came off with a hamstring injury and he will have a scan on Thursday, after which we will know more about the extent of the problem. If it is a Grade One injury, he will be out for around ten days, while a Grade Two injury means four to six weeks, depending on what part of the muscle is injured. We’ll have more news tomorrow.”
Also gives us another chance to assess whether he is anything more to the team than an effective impact sub. Personally, I don’t see his absence having any real effect
Better then was expected but Sakho should be back and leading the attack before his return,so he could be warming the bench again for a few weeks,
We don’t need to start with Jelavic with Valencia and Antonio both capable of leading the forwards and Moses and Payet along side
What a front 4
