Chelsea are monitoring Michail Antonio, sources close to the player have told ESPN since repeated in the Sun newspaper.
The Blues are in the market for attacking reinforcements after selling Oscar, and Antonio’s versatility has brought him to the attention of Blues boss Antonio Conte. He impressed Conte in West Ham’s EFL Cup win over Chelsea earlier this season and could play in a variety of positions in the manager’s 3-5-2 formation — a system also used by West Ham boss Slaven Bilic.
Antonio’s homegrown status also makes him an attractive proposition to Chelsea as they look to boost their quota. Chelsea can expect a quick rejection if they make an inquiry or put in a bid as the board want to demonstrate their days as selling club as long gone. West Ham’s top scorer is an important part of Slaven Bilic’s team.
However Sky Sports News say West Ham have had no approach for Michail Antonio and the club have no intention of selling the winger.
Only a swap deal with Hazard plus £30 million will be acceptable 🙂
For Big Clubs It’s not always about signing good players to improve Thier squads . For some ( such as Man Utd ) it’s all about denying a rival team the talented players they have to Lessen the threat in the league . Many transferred players end up keeping the bench warm . Not the most sincere and honest form of success , but proven to work .
