Chicharito – maybe not quite the end of Irons road

|

Javier Hernandez may well be advised to ‘wait and see’ rather than rushing out of the London Stadium door this summer.

Chicharito – who arrived as the summer marquee signing – has suffered a miserable time under both Slaven Bilic and notably David Moyes who bombed him out of Old Trafford when in charge.

Already his advisers are urgently looking for a new club for him but with Moyes’ future becoming more uncertain by the day, there could yet be a way forward for him at the Hammers.

It’s obviously a slim possibility with the player’s body language currently showing all the signs of him wanting out of the club under Moyes’ management.

However, he has shown with eight goals 33 appearances – mostly from the bench – that he retains an uncanny ability inside the box with his goal against Chelsea remaining fresh in the memory.

Under the right manager, and he was unlucky to find his old adversary Moyes arrive after Bilic, he could yet prosper in a new Irons set up.

Chicharito is still a very good fox-in-the-box goal poacher.
I am assuming that Moyes will leave irrespective of whether we get relegated or not..
Chicharito is a good co-striker with Arnautovic.
I suggest we offer him an improved 2 year contract with an option for a 3rd year.
Under the watchful eye of a new, unbiased manager, I feel that Chicharito has much to offer and feel that he will improve with good player management!

i feel like chicherito is not a player designed for relegation dogfights. he gives you virtually nothing defensively. we all saw him in the last game lose the ball and then throw his hands in the air like a petulant child and make no attempt to win the ball back or track back. luxury player. great in the box when throwing caution to the wind to get a goal back when behind but not a natural team player. you can see why he has spent much of his career as a substitute. a super sub, but a sub nothingtheless.

He is a luxury player we just can’t carry IMO.
Yes he has scored but he has also missed a few sitters as well (Arsenal to win the game in the last 5 mins). He doesn’t track back and leaves the midfield and defense exposed when he loses it which he frequently does and just sits there complaining he was fouled and his diving is getting to the levels of Delli Alli. We are not a good enough side to leave him up top and poach a goal, we are not getting enough goal scoring opportunities in the box. Most of our goals are long range or Arnie hassling the defense. Not worth his money for me but I was over the moon when we signed him but have been left completely underwhelmed and refer anyone who defends him to the Wigan game and his complete lack of effort and poor poor attitude.

weve seen how our team collapses this season after conceding. too many lightweight players not putting a shift in defensively, giving the ball away cheaply. defending has to start from the front. too many people seem to think its as simple as just throwing loads of attacking players on but if they give you nothing defensively its also a sure way to lose a game of football.

The thing with so many of the players brought in over recent years is that there seems to be no overall plan. So players like Zaza, Snodgrass, Hernandez turn up & They are not bad players- some are very good- but the manager either doesn’t rate them or doesn’t know how to get the best out of them. Square pegs, round holes. Whatever happens over the next three games that needs to change. Players need to be recruited not on the basis of their reputation, or because they are going cheap, but because they will fit into the overall plan & make it work better. It has been hard to even see what the overall plan is. You look of most sides & get an impression of how they are trying to play. You think of West Ham & think – dog’s breakfast!
