Classy Tomas shows brilliant sporting ethics

|

It was, of course, no more than West Ham fans would have expected having become so  used to the exceptional on and off field behaviour of Tomas Soucek.

But once again the super Czech showed his caring and professional side as his team overcame ten man Netherlands to enter the last eight of the Euros.

As his team mates quite naturally celebrated a fine victory which took most of us – including the bookies  by surprise – his thoughts were on the dejected Dutch outfit.

And as reported by Hammers News Tomas immediately broke up the huddle and ensured that his team mates headed towards the beaten squad to ensure they shook hands with them all.

Class!

The Czechs are undoubtedly most Hammers supporters second team in the tournament – maybe even the first to a few – and Soucek’s actions were those of a top professional who realises the importance of sporting ethics.

He then led his team-mates to celebrate in front of the Czech fans – some of who were wearing Irons shirts and carrying inflatable Hammers.
